Our Practice

Our Philosophy

A harsh court battle is not the only way to resolve a family law dispute, and it is rarely the best way. No two families are alike, and all families deserve solutions that work for their unique needs. We make it a priority to help you identify the dispute resolution option that is right for you and your family, with the best outcome and the least possible emotional upset. We offer a variety of alternative dispute resolution processes, including mediation for family law and elder issues; Collaborative practice; attorney-negotiated settlement; arbitration; and litigation.

Finding the right answers for you begins with listening to you: your situation, concerns, hopes and goals. Understanding what you want your future to look like informs the decisions we make together in your family law matter. Every action and communication helps us assist you in building the future you want.

Once we clarify your needs, we can help you understand the legal process that lies ahead, whether that is a divorce, a custody matter, or creating an estate plan. Knowing what to expect helps you be an active, informed participant in your legal matter, and to make the best decisions for your family. Understanding the law and legal process reduces stress and makes for a better experience.

We bring to the table a thorough understanding of Michigan law and experience as advocates and problem solvers. You bring deep knowledge of your family’s dynamics, challenges, and strengths. Together, we develop and carry out a plan to resolve your legal issues.

Our Experience

Our attorneys not only have their fingers on the pulse of family law in Michigan, they have helped to shape it in both courts and conference rooms. Many have held leadership positions and continue to be leaders in the family law community at the local, state, national and international levels, including with the State Bar of Michigan (SBM), American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL), and the Collaborative Practice Institute of Michigan (CPIM ).
